The goal is to establish a meeting network for full truckloads. The reciprocal exchange of trailers halfway is intended to provide a solution for several current industry problems regarding profitability, driver shortage, and deployment scenarios for electric trucks. With this project, the cooperation partners combine their expertise and enable medium-sized freight forwarders and logistics providers to achieve new synergy effects. The new offering aims to empower users to actively address market challenges.
‍

“We are delighted to establish a pioneering meeting network for freight forwarders and logistics providers, together with MANSIO as a competent business partner at our side,” says Jochen Eschborn, CEO of ELVIS AG. “Through this cooperation, we offer our network partners the opportunity to systematically utilize meeting traffic to optimize their transport business.” With its many years of expertise and extensive network, the freight forwarding alliance supports the establishment of the new system, named “ELVIS Cross Load Network,” and thus, according to its own statements, provides a building block for strengthening the beleaguered medium-sized freight forwarder.

Software developer MANSIO provides the technological framework for the meeting traffic. With its platform, the Aachen-based company efficiently aligns the business processes of the participating freight forwarders with the operational processes of the emerging network. Dr. Maik Schürmeyer, Managing Director of MANSIO GmbH, says: “With the support of ELVIS, the leading freight forwarding alliance with

over 250 partners, we are forming the perfect foundation for our joint venture. We are very much looking forward to working together to bring this forward-looking concept to fruition.”

The transport concept is initially based on central exchange points, the first of which will be established at the ELVIS hub in Knüllwald. Eschborn explains the process: “Participating freight forwarders drive their trucks to the exchange point in Knüllwald, hand over trailers to other freight forwarders there, and carry out the return transport to their respective original region. For this purpose, standardized trailers are provided in a pool, so that one’s own trailer does not have to be handed over to unfamiliar drivers.” This concept makes it possible to avoid empty runs, save costs and time, and ultimately even send the truck on its way a second time during the day to increase revenue. In addition to the economic benefits, drivers are primarily expected to profit from the meeting traffic, as they can return home at the end of their shift. “This allows us to make an important contribution to making the profession of truck drivers more attractive and counteracting the acute driver shortage. Last but not least, we are even reducing the demand for parking spaces on highways,” Eschborn adds.

The project also offers advantages in terms of sustainability, as not only are empty runs saved, but electrically powered trucks can also be used more efficiently on partial routes. Due to the shorter distances and the predictable route to the meeting point, the limited range of electric trucks and the restricted available infrastructure can be optimally utilized.

With this cooperation, ELVIS and MANSIO combine their expertise to proactively address the challenges of the industry and contribute to an economic and sustainable future in transport logistics. “Our meeting traffic marks a significant milestone for road freight transport. Together with MANSIO, we are working to establish a system for our network partners that aims to optimize full load transports. This offers our partners clear advantages in a highly competitive market,” says Eschborn.

‍

Further information about ELVIS AG can be found at: www.elvis-ag.com‍

Further information about MANSIO GmbH can be found at: www.mansio-logistics.com

‍

Caption: Symbolic handshake: Jochen Eschborn (left), CEO of ELVIS AG, and Julian Blasig, COO of MANSIO GmbH, seal the joint cooperation for the ELVIS Cross Load Network.
