In this interview, Christian Lehnhoff discusses the evolution of the avitea group into a modern multi-service provider, the potential of Duisburg as a business location, and the role of Artificial Intelligence in tomorrow’s world of work.<\/p>\n\n

Duisburg, September 22, 2026 \u2013 As Head of the Duisburg Region, Christian Lehnhoff is responsible for the establishment and further development of the avitea group’s location. Born in Essen, he brings many years of experience from the personnel services industry and today sees himself primarily as a networker and solution finder. In this interview, he talks about his journey from locksmith to HR services, the opportunities in the Duisburg region, and why companies are increasingly looking for holistic partners rather than individual services. <\/em><\/p>\n\n

How did you come to join the avitea group?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“I have many years of professional experience in personnel services, but I originally trained as a locksmith. This allows me to understand both sides very well and I am familiar with both worlds. Over the course of my career, I have taken on various sales and leadership roles. I eventually joined avitea because the development opportunities here at the location were exciting and I have the chance to actively shape things. <\/p>\n\n

Another important point for me is successfully bringing companies and applicants together. I incredibly enjoy dealing with people. Sales and networking are exactly the areas where I feel at home.” <\/p>\n\n

What defines the avitea group today?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“We don’t just solve personnel issues; we support companies holistically with various services related to HR as well as industrial and business-related services. These include, among others, HR services, outsourcing, logistics services, facility management, as well as work and service contracts. <\/p>\n\n

avitea was originally a regionally rooted personnel service provider in Lippstadt. Over the years, further competencies were added, including through the founding of avitea Industrieservice. Today, we combine these various services under the umbrella of the avitea group. This allows us to support companies much more comprehensively than a traditional HR service provider.” <\/p>\n\n

What role do you take on as Head of the Duisburg Region?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“I see myself less as a traditional regional manager and more as a networker. Especially the environment here at startport offers excellent opportunities to get in touch with companies and people. <\/p>\n\n

At the same time, I try to be a solution maker. Companies approach me with a wide variety of challenges, and my task is to develop suitable solutions together with them. This often involves more than just personnel issues; it requires a holistic view of the customer’s situation.” <\/p>\n\n

What does your typical workday look like?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“There isn’t really a typical daily routine. Of course, I plan my days, but new topics are constantly being added. Customers need support at short notice, or new challenges arise spontaneously. <\/p>\n\n

As a result, I regularly switch between different areas of responsibility. Sometimes sales is the focus, sometimes recruiting. However, the central task always remains the same: to further expand the location, forge new contacts, and sustainably develop the Duisburg region.” <\/p>\n\n

What distinguishes the avitea group from other companies in the industry?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“Many providers deliver personnel. We deliver solutions. Our strength lies in the combination of regional proximity, operational experience, modern processes, and a service portfolio that goes far beyond traditional HR services. <\/p>\n\n

This is complemented by topics such as outsourcing, outplacement, master vendor solutions, and industry-related services. Today, companies are increasingly looking for partners who can support them holistically. That is exactly where we come in.” <\/p>\n\n

What opportunities and challenges do you currently see?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“A major opportunity lies in the fact that companies are increasingly looking for partners who can view various challenges holistically and offer suitable solutions.<\/p>\n\n

That is why we pursue the multi-service provider approach. At the same time, we are working intensively on future topics such as Artificial Intelligence. In recruiting, for example, we are already using various AI solutions. This includes Mona AI, which supports us in pre-recruiting. This allows us to create more efficient processes and provide even better support to our customers.” <\/p>\n\n

What makes Duisburg and the Ruhr region special for you?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“The people in the Ruhr region are open, direct, and down-to-earth. That is exactly what I appreciate very much. The region is strongly characterized by industry, production, and logistics and has a long industrial tradition. This shapes the mentality to this day. <\/p>\n\n

At the same time, Duisburg has enormous potential. With its significant inland port, the city possesses a unique location advantage. Added to this are numerous companies from logistics, industry, and the steel economy. This combination makes the region particularly exciting for me.” <\/p>\n\n

What are the greatest strengths of Duisburg as a location?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“Duisburg combines medium-sized businesses and large-scale industry. This creates a high level of networking and, at the same time, a lot of innovative power. In addition, there are numerous specialized and internationally active companies that one often doesn’t even notice in everyday life, but which are successful worldwide. <\/p>\n\n

The large number of companies and people in a small area creates an exceptionally large market and thus enormous potential for new partnerships and developments.”<\/p>\n\n

How do you perceive the labor market in Duisburg?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“The region is strongly industrial. At the same time, like many other regions, we are feeling the shortage of skilled workers, especially in the industrial and commercial sector. <\/p>\n\n

On the other hand, Duisburg offers enormous flexibility. Especially in the port environment, many companies and industries meet. This creates long-term perspectives for employees and numerous opportunities for companies. What many customers are looking for today are long-term partners who can provide them with comprehensive support.” <\/p>\n\n

How did the collaboration with startport come about?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“Our wish was for stronger regional networking. The startport network provides ideal conditions for this. At the same time, we benefit from the proximity to duisport and the numerous companies, startups, and partners on site. <\/mark><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

Furthermore, innovation plays an important role for us. We are working intensively on AI and digital solutions. The innovation environment of startport therefore fits perfectly with our own goals and future topics.” <\/p>\n\n

How do you like working in the startport coworking space?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“The atmosphere here is very open. You quickly become part of the network, even if you are there as a coworker. The exchange with other companies works excellently, and new impulses are constantly emerging. <\/p>\n\n

In addition, the working environment offers many advantages. The premises are modernly designed, the infrastructure is excellent, and the view of the Inner Harbor is, of course, something special. Even after a stressful day, a quick look out the window is sometimes enough to recharge your batteries. The location in the Inner Harbor offers ideal conditions for networking, exchange, and new impulses.” <\/p>\n\n

What goals are you pursuing in the coming months?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“The focus remains on the expansion of the Duisburg region. We want to win new customers, strengthen our network, and build long-term partnerships. <\/p>\n\n

In doing so, we are not interested in short-term personnel placement. Our goal is to support companies in the long term and, depending on the challenge, bring together the appropriate competencies from the avitea group. That is exactly where we see the strength of our multi-service provider approach.” <\/p>\n\n

What can be expected from the avitea group in the future?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

“Duisburg offers enormous opportunities for companies, talent, and innovation. This is exactly where we as avitea want to make a contribution, bringing people and companies together successfully and actively shaping the world of work of tomorrow. <\/p>\n\n

We want to further expand our presence in Duisburg and the surrounding region and build new partnerships. At the same time, we are working on innovative recruiting solutions and AI-supported processes that offer companies real added value. <\/p>\n\n
