Duisburg, January 20, 2021 – Duisburg Intermodal Terminal (DIT) has joined the partner network of duisport subsidiary startport.

As an exclusive partner, DIT supports the startup hub startport in the digitalization of logistics in the Rhine-Ruhr region. The exclusive partners support the innovation platform for logistics and supply chain both conceptually and financially.

DIT: A Strong Partner for startport

Located in the Port of Duisburg, DIT is a trimodal hub terminal with modern inland port technology. The company focuses on the import and export of goods. “With startport, we are promoting the future of logistics while simultaneously strengthening the Ruhr region as a center of excellence,” explains Bernd Putens, Managing Director of DIT, regarding the partnership.

DIT supports startups as a sparring partner and user. Peter Trapp, Managing Director of startport, is pleased with the addition: “With Duisburg Intermodal Terminal, we have gained a strong ally with a great tradition in the region for the further development of innovative ideas in logistics. We are very proud of this!”

Partner Network Crucial for startport’s Success

The innovation platform startport, a subsidiary of the Port of Duisburg, is committed to anchoring innovative technologies in the region. This is achieved by initiating projects between startups and established companies that make logistics more digital, efficient, and sustainable. With this objective, startport supports young startups through two startup programs: the startport Incubator and Accelerator. “startport is a success story: after the first startups moved in in January 2018, we can already look back on an established startup hub with many startups and successful pilot projects. This success is also based on our strong partner network,” says Peter Trapp. The duisport subsidiary pursues an open partner model and is supported conceptually and financially by other regional players such as Klöckner, the RAG Foundation, the Initiativkreis Ruhr, Borussia Dortmund, and Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg.
