Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr has joined the partner network of duisport subsidiary startport.

As a partner, Rhenus Port Logistics supports the startport startup hub in the digitalization of logistics in the Rhine-Ruhr region. With this cooperation, the new partner supports the innovation platform for logistics and supply chain.

Rhenus Port Logistics: A strong partner for startport

The port terminals of the Rhenus Group ensure the smooth operation of supply chains along European waterways. “Our ports serve not only as a hub for multimodal handling and transport of goods, but also as a location for interim storage. We are currently equipping the Rhine-Ruhr locations with digital and intelligent solutions along the entire supply chain. One or more startport startups could certainly be helpful to us in this regard,” explains Michael Petersmann, Managing Director of Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr, part of the Rhenus Group, one of the leading globally operating logistics service providers. A broad spectrum of specialist areas comes together here: from automotive to contract logistics, warehousing, outsourcing and planning, to customs clearance.

The startport startups will also benefit from this Rhenus expertise in the future. Johannes Franke, Managing Director of startport, is pleased about the growth: “With Rhenus Port Logistics Rhein-Ruhr, we have gained an international logistics service provider with the global network of the Rhenus Group. Their extensive experience in digitalization and specific requirements for the supply chain in port and hinterland logistics will advance us as an innovation platform in the industry, as well as our startups!”

Pilot projects between partners and startups

As a subsidiary of Duisburger Hafen AG, startport has built a strong partner network in its 5 years of existence. This includes regional players such as Bohnen Logistik, Duisburg Intermodal Terminal, and Wirtschaftsbetriebe Duisburg. These are connected with specific startups, for example, in so-called Innovation Challenges, and can thus successfully launch pilot projects. Through this new startport format, tailor-made innovations are assigned to the right companies, and development at the Duisburg site is driven forward. Furthermore, the partners promote entrepreneurship in the field of logistics and supply chain at the Duisburg site through program funding.
