• Cooperation between duisport and former startport startup ForkOnTeaser
• A milestone for innovation and efficiency enhancement
Duisburg, May 16, 2024
A milestone for innovation and efficiency enhancement in the field of intralogistics: Following the successful completion of a pilot project between duisport and ForkOn, the cooperation is now being extended to fleet management for forklifts. ForkOn already made an impression at duisport subsidiary startport in 2019.
Forklifts are also becoming smart: The integration of ForkOn’s advanced telematics technology into 80 forklifts at the Port of Duisburg across 13 industrial and contract logistics sites in Germany marks a significant advancement in the digitalization of intralogistics processes. The partnership with ForkOn underscores duisport’s commitment to manufacturer independence and the seamless integration of technologies into logistics processes.
duisport, one of the most important logistics hubs in Europe and the world’s largest inland port, is known for its commitment to innovation and operational efficiency. The first encounter with ForkOn was facilitated by subsidiary startport. The innovation platform for logistics startups successfully integrated ForkOn into its support program in 2019. ForkOn has since established itself as a leading provider of manufacturer-independent fleet management for forklifts and AGVs.
Through the partnership, not only are legal requirements for protection against unauthorized use and simplified training and instruction control enabled, but daily pre-operational checks are also simplified and digitalized.
Sophisticated Sensor Technology
Another important criterion for selecting ForkOn lies in the sophisticated sensor technology that detects collision damage to equipment and goods and initiates immediate inspection of the equipment by a supervisor to ensure a safe workplace for employees.
Alexander Garbar, Head of Corporate Development, Digitalization and Strategy at duisport, emphasizes: “The collaboration with ForkOn enables us to remain at the forefront in terms of innovation and operational efficiency. We are committed to offering first-class solutions that promote our competitiveness and sustainability in our operations.”
Jan Malte Wöhrle, Managing Director of the Industrial Logistics Division of the Port of Duisburg, notes: “With ForkOn, we have found a partner that was able to effectively map our complex business processes through the many options available. For example, all dialogues can be displayed in multiple languages. ForkOn’s hardware also meets our requirements very well and was further developed together with ForkOn: Our internal warehouse management solutions also run on the ForkOn devices, allowing us to reduce the hardware burden for our employees.”
Tim Klauke, CEO of ForkOn, adds: “We are pleased to collaborate with duisport to develop customized solutions that meet the company’s specific requirements. Our intelligent telematics technology offers duisport significant benefits in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability.”
Alessandro Benassi, Managing Director of startport GmbH: “The collaboration between duisport and ForkOn illustrates the important role of startups in addressing and solving existing problems in the logistics industry. It demonstrates how new solution approaches can be seamlessly transferred from the pilot phase to regular operations.”
